Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. St. Matthew 6:16-18
I might say, it well so pleased the Holy Father to prepareth me for years for the time of consecration even before I was bestowed the grace to entereth it.
For as I considereth it, before the years of being set apart with thy Lord, I was chiefly led by the Spirit of God to focus on fasting in the middle of the week and reading books principally focused on the supernatural realm. Thereafter, while on a corporate thirty-day consecration, I purposed to forsake the television.
What a most blessed surprise it was for me when, after the thirty-day prayer and fasting had concluded, my desire to watch television programs had becometh a former thing.
You might say, after the occasion of that certain time of consecration unto thy Lord, it even became many years I ceased watching television. It remained so, but for what I shall say was on the occasion I was led by the Spirit of God to giveth attention to news coverage of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
Oh, my gratitude for our Good Father, for in His kindness He began to lead me back to the enjoyment of television late in the year of 2020.  I may say, Christ bestowed the blessedness of His grace upon me to return to television by watching episodes of the children’s television program “Sesame Street,” and “Elmo’s World.”
Quite likely, our Lord, in His lovingkindness, led me to this particular program because I had invariably been intrigued with puppets. In it, I discovered I most enjoyed watching Elmo and his fish!
Might I now speaketh of my dearest son, Tony? For it was my most generous son who gifted me Elmo, a talking puppet during the Christmas of 2019. I might say, the red fuzzy puppet was the only gift I desired that Christmas.
And so, I suppose Tony shares the story of that certain Christmas whereby I desired only a children’s toy. Ofttimes, he now may even be heard saying, “No one can touch my mother’s Elmo. She loves her Elmo!” Smile.
Surely, I praise thy Lord for my son.
