By Apostle Tonya
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young Child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him. Matthew 2:13
Ofttimes as I have sat with the Holy Spirit studying Joseph’s obedience and integrity; I have found I have most admired his protection of our Beloved Lord Jesus and his wife, Mary.
Sometime ago, while delighting in the Father’s Presence, He brought to my remembrance Joseph and His instructions to him in dreams. Thereafter, I began to reflect on the attributes of Joseph’ character that reminded me of our Heavenly Father. I began asking the Lord what was it in Joseph’s heart that He would choose Him to raise His only begotten Son. Days later, as I sat writing, ever-faithful to answer our hearts, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob spoke His answer in my heart: Joseph was obedient, humble and a meek father to His Beloved, Son in the Earth. Amen.
I most enjoy the passage in the Book of Matthew, Chapter 2 verse 14, which demonstrates the faithful steps of Joseph after receiving a warning dream from thy Lord:
When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night, and departed into Egypt.
This is a glorious verse revealing Heaven’s protection of our Savior and the servant, Joseph’s assignment for our Lord.
This month, as we honor fathers, I have rich memories of my childhood and as an young adult that I have visited in my quiet time. Thy Lord blessed me with an abundance of love from three grandfathers. Such blessed life I experienced with my maternal and paternal grandfathers and an maternal step-grandfather who also loved me as if I were his own. I am forever grateful with the extended memories I cherish of my step-grandfather who helped changed the trajectory of my life.
As for my late father, he was such a handsome, wise man who was greatly protective of my mother, three younger siblings and me. We were his only world!
Family, as we celebrate fathers this year, let us give thanks to our Blessed Father who giveth His Children the blessing of natural and spiritual fathers.
Fathers, I pray the Lord continue to grace you with the blessed attributes of Him. And, I pray you will continue to be the pillars of strength to your families and leaders to the Body of Christ. Amen.
